The Spitfire company was founded in 1987, and is part of the Deluxe Distribution network, along with brands such as Krooked, Anti Hero Skateboards and Real. It is most famous for its wheels, but it also offers skateboard bearings, tools, griptape, clothing, stickers and accessories such as bags and wallets.
Many of the world’s top riders use Spitfire wheels, including Shane O’Neill, Theotis Beasley, Erik Ellington, Andrew Reynolds, Sean Malto, Eric Koston, Chris Cole, Omar Salazar, Mike Mo Capaldi, Mike Anderson, Guy Mariano and Daewon Song. Current products feature ‘Formula Four’ performance urethane, which, according to the company, offers superior performance and unmatched abrasion resistance, as well as allowing wheels to last longer and withstand greater abuse.
The company’s first video in 1993 was simply called Spitfire, and featured skaters such as Billy Valdes, Ricky Oyola, Brian Young, Joey Suriel, Drake Jones, Ed Templeton, Jonas Wray, Ethan Fowler, Brian Chung, Fabian Alomar, Jamie Thomas, Jason Dill, Max Schaaf, Jerry Fowler, Julien Stranger, Sean Young and Tim Upson.
Since then, Spitfire team riders have released many significant individual video parts, either as part of their welcome to the team, or to accompany the release of a new product. Notable video parts include Reynolds’ and Capaldi’s introduction parts, and Song’s 2012 promotional part for the ‘Enter the Daewon’ signature wheel model. Nassim Guammaz, Raney Beres, Zered Bassett and Dennis Busenitz all released short clips to coincide with the introduction of ‘Formula Four’ in 2013.
