Before you escape to the hills as soon as the snow falls, make sure you're equipped with the right gear that keeps you warm, dry and lookin' fly. Here is a breakdown of the 7 most important items you need before you're ready to shred.

HELMET
We cannot stress enough the importance of wearing a helmet when skiing or snowboarding. When shopping for a helmet, focus on how it fits and feels. We recommend purchasing your helmet at the same time as your goggles so you can be sure they fit together nicely. Look for features that suit your style such as the design and if it's speaker or headphone compatible like the helmet featured here.

GOGGLES
Goggles make all the difference when hitting the slopes, especially in snowy conditions. When shopping for goggles make sure to bring your helmet so you can feel how they fit together. Look for lenses designed to suit the light condition you're riding in, whether it's bright light, flat light or a combination of both.

JACKET
The jacket you choose to ride in can be the same one you wear on a daily basis, so it not only needs to function, it needs to look good too... and with so many sick styles available that won't be a problem. When shopping for a jacket, look for one that is versatile for all weather conditions and has a built in ventilation system - this allows you to adjust how much heat stays in the jacket so you can maintain a pleasant body temperature whether you're rippin' down the mountain or chillin' in the beer tent..

SNOW PANTS
Just like your jacket, look for snow pants that have a venting system to allow for breathability. When shopping for snow pants there are a ton of styles to choose from. Consider other things you want your pants to do... keep the snow out of your boots? Look for pants with boot gators. Have a phone, keys or other important items you need with you on the slopes? Look for pockets. Want them to stay up? Get a belt if your pants have belt loops... don't worry, we sell those too.

BOOTS
Shopping for the right snowboard boot can be confusing if you're new to the boarding scene. We recommend coming into the shop so you can learn more about what to look for in the perfect snowboard boot. A few things to consider when shopping for new snowboard boots are the comfort, warmth, forward lean - the shape the boot was sewn in that allows for more or less bending at the knee - and the stiffness of the boot for the style of riding.

SNOWBOARD
There are three main factors when it comes to selecting a snowboard - your weight, foot size and riding style (ie. where you plan to ride). Do you ride mostly on the mountain? Or are you trickin' it out in the snow park? Regardless of what your riding style is, we suggest stopping by the shop so we can make sure you find a board that is perfect for you. And just a word of warning - if you're shopping elsewhere and someone uses the hockey stick method... run away. Far away. Then come back here and we'll help you out.

MITTS
More than any other part of your riding kit, mitts (or gloves) have the most contact with the elements, therefore choosing one that is water resistant is imperative. Which is better, you ask? Great question. While mitts are great for warmth, it's not as easy to adjust bindings, press play, etc. while wearing them. That's where gloves have the advantage... but they're not as warm. So, if it's a really cold day we recommend mitts because the most important thing is that you are comfortable.
