After a great opening weekend, last weekend, things have been a little more trying this week, to say the least!
Â
Tuesday and Wednesday brought r@!n, and lots of it - somewhere in the vicinity of 50 mm. While spirits were admittedly low, they've risen again with nearly 40 cm - yes...nearly 40 cm - over the past 24 hours. With that, we have returned to skiing / riding on Huckleberry Chair this morning - woo hoo!
Â
While it remains to be determined when the main mountain - Gravenstafel - will open, our mountain ops teams are working hard to get as much terrain open as possible, as soon as possible. We expect to get back to making snow this evening / overnight, once temperatures allow, with our primary focus on bolstering snow levels on Huck and Green, before moving to North Road.
To stay in the loop on operations, be sure to check our snow report daily. Reports are posted daily before 6 AM with information on overnight snowfall, expected weather, and expected available lifts / terrain. With a little more than two (2) weeks until opening day, seasonal staff are starting to land and preparations, for the 23-24 season, are reaching a fever pitch! Opening on Friday, December 1 remains our goal, with as much terrain on offer as we can safely make available!
While you might not know it, especially if you're on the prairies, it has been snowing up here! Just over the past few days alone we've seen about 20 cm, at mid-mountain, with temps staying at or below freezing in the base area. Snow making has largely been paused over the last several days but our team got back to making snow last night, thanks to a dip in temps. As always, at the time of year, we'll make snow whenever temperatures allow.
