"After a devastating hit to the head in 1998, I left my hockey life and moved to Banff, AB to focus completely on snowboarding. In 2004 I became the area's first Territory Rep for Red Bull. This new position on top of already being an established fixture in the Banff/Lake Louise snowboard scene began translating into more time at the bar and less time on the hill. As soon as I hit my prime in snowboarding, my substance abuse increased and never snowboarded a full season ever again. By the time I was 39 I was 240 pounds with severe depression and drinking nearly ten beer a day as a new father. ⁠
At 40 I quit drinking completely, improved my diet and picked up my skateboard and snowboard again. Within months I had lost over 70 pounds and spent the following two years regaining and adding to my bag of tricks on the snow and pavement. Being a snowboarder and skateboarder are experiences that won't last forever but my goal is to experience both for as long as I can. ⁠Go Skateboarding." - Jarett ⁠
